LIVING OFF YESTERDAY’S FAITH

LIVING OFF YESTERDAY
And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” (Luke 17:5)
“FAITH”

HOW TO KEEP YOUR FAITH ALIVE AND ACTIVE

1ST Faith has to be “understood”

A. What is faith?

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Heb. 11:1)

B. What does faith do?

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.” (Mk. 11:22)

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom. 10:9)

2ND Faith has to be “increased”

And the Apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” (Lk. 17:5)

WE CAN “INCREASE OUR FAITH” BY:

Reading

Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. (1 Tim. 4:13)

Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. (1 Tim. 4:15)

Hearing

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Rom. 10:17)

Praying

And the prayer of faith will save the sick… (James 5:15)

3RD Faith has to be “used”

So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.  And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?  But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’?  Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.  So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.(Lk. 17:6-10)
