WHEN LIFE IS HARD
“Firm Foundations”
1 Peter 1:18-2:10 (NKJV)
When life is hard, we have a firm foundation to lean on!
1. Precious Blood (1 Peter 1:18-21)
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” Lev. 17:11
The shedding of blood is a reference to the giving of an innocent life in exchange for the life of a guilty person!
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Cor. 5:21
Peter says this “Precious Blood” is:
- Incorruptible (1 Pet. 1:18)
- Without spot or blemish (1 Pet. 1:19)
- Foreordained (1 Pet. 1:20)
2. Word of God (1 Peter 1:22-2:3)
“The Bible is not the book of the month, but the Book of all ages.” (Adrian Rodgers)
“Let it be to me according to your word.” Lk. 1:38
- The Word of God causes you to be born-again (1 Pet. 1:22-25)
- The Word of God causes you to grow spiritually (1 Pet. 2:1-3)
3. Spiritual House (1 Peter 2:4-10)
“Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common.” Acts 2:44
When life is hard, we have the firm foundation:
